Biography

Ms. Denise Andrews, 55 year old Orange native, is deeply concerned about the current state of affairs of our community and country.

Denise is a compassionate, results oriented leader. Denise's personal mantra, "To whom much is given, much is required", compels her to make a difference. The principles that guide her life are:

  • faith in divine order
  • choose to be a good local and global citizen
  • to leave a legacy from which all families benefit
  • to be free to dance in every country.

Ms. Andrews has served as a collaborative and accountable leader for change across many communities. Some examples include improving the quality of governance, embracing global citizenship, excellence in leadership, initiatives for social progress and equal rights for all. She is, also, a guest lecturer at the State Department and various universities on leadership, mentoring, and improving performance across corporations and non-profit organizations.

Ms. Andrews has been blessed to learn and teach in many countries. She gives her best to make local and global communities thrive. She, like many others, dreams of creating a better world. Thoughtful leadership, compassion, working together and diligence can make this dream a reality.

The business world is where Denise has spent most of her professional career previous to her election to State Representative.

Ms. Andrews is a founding partner of an entrepreneurial consulting company, Legacy Unlimited, www.legacyunlimited.net, which specializes in global leadership, diversity and inclusion.

Previously, Denise served 25 years, as a respected business leader in Manufacturing, Human Resources and Global Diversity in the Procter & Gamble Company, www.pg.com.

Ms. Andrews serves as the appointed Chair of Governor Patrick's Advisory Council for Non-Discrimination, Equal Opportunity and Diversity. The Council is leading work with key leaders to move the commonwealth toward becoming an exemplary state in diversity by 2020.

Ms. Andrews is a past board member for Women's International Networking, Lausanne, Switzerland and World Cultures, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA.

Ms. Andrews is the Chair of the Procter & Gamble Global Women's Alumni Forum.

Denise is the youngest daughter of Bob and Pat Andrews who are 4th and 5th (respectively) generation Orange residents. Denise respects and admires her parents. They are her model for dedicated, compassionate and committed community activists, leaders and friends. Denise hopes to continue this family legacy.

A long time active community partner, she has actively supported leaders for local, state and federal governance, youth development programs, fiscally responsible spending initiatives, economic development and citizen engagement.

Ms. Andrews loves and practices complex problem solving, servant leadership and building effective partnerships to create sustainable solutions for progress and prosperity.

Ms. Andrews and her partner of 29 years, share a rich extended family, including their miniature schnauzer Sebastian, and reside at Lake Mattawa in Orange.

Ms. Andrews is a graduate of Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Xavier University (Ohio).
